The Town of Stillwater houses the Saratoga National Historical Park, the site that commemorates the battle that was the turning point of the American Revolutionary War. It is a growing community that takes its history seriously.
Stillwater became an "official" town during the colonial era in 1788 and was later incorporated in 1816. The town celebrated its bicentennial in 2016 with a series of events featuring carriage rides, cannon and musket firings and a concert series at the Arvin Hart Pavilion and several local night spots in Saratoga.
The Saratoga National Historical Park preserves the site of the Battles of Saratoga. There is a monument that commemorates the battle and several re-enacts are staged throughout the year. Locals use the many walking and biking trails all year long.
On the main street you can find the Block House, which was constructed from the original logs of the fort built by Peter Schulyer.
